This is something which turned out to be a big gossip point among several top bureaucrats in Lucknow. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, February 21, exhorted UP to compete with Maharashtra in creating a trillion dollar economy in the state while inaugurating the two-day 'UP Investors Summit,' prospective investors and UP civil servants were looking for cues to differentiate the Yogi's government with the previous ones.
And the cues were spread all over: one among the two senior civil servants, who ruled the turf during Maya & Mulayam regime in Noida & Lucknow, was seen in the fore front of the entire preparation for the event was seen missing from the actual show - except for a brief and inconspicuous passing moment. If some top government sources are to be believed he was made to beat a hasty retreat after his attempts to hog the limelight became too uncomfortable for the people who surround the PM and his men and have been taking particular care to protect them from embarrassing photo ops. That must have been the wake up call for the new power center of the state.
The ambitious and versatile officer had done meticulous planning to exploit the event to revive himself and get into the inner circle of the current dispensation in Lucknow.
Those in the know of the affairs indicated that when the PM arrived and the official tried to strategically place himself just behind NaMo and ahead of even Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, he could only enjoy a fleeting moment of glory. Reportedly, officials in charge of the function quickly ensured that he was instantly removed and put in his place before the rolling eyes of the cameras start generating a new story a 'la Davos'; post PNB scenario.
And this sent the message among the prospective investors- that the Yogi government is different from the previous 'M' (Mulayam & Maya) governments.
