two-dig-level-posts-in-bcas-keep-ips-officers-on-tenterhooks Unlike the other All India Service cadres, IPS officers have relatively limited avenues to serve in Govt of India and hence at any point in time, a large number of them look for the opportunity to serve at the Centre. And when some available posts become uncertain, their hopes get dashed. Take, for instance, the two DIG rank posts (encadred for IPS) which are currently vacant in the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (Ministry of Civil Aviation). Many officers are keen to apply but there has been a delay on the part of MHA to form a panel for the purpose. It is believed that it has got something to do with the ongoing war of supremacy to grab and retain the civil aviation security. For the last few months, it has been like a never-ending feud between Union Home Ministry and Ministry of Civil Aviation to control the BCAS. After CISF saw its strength increasing to 1.80 lac personnel (from 01.45 lac) in December 2016, its aspirations too got wings and now it wants to have the control over BCAS.
