N Harish (IPS:2009:TN), a 32-year old IPS officer was found dead under mysterious circumstance in police officers' mess at Egmore in Chennai on Thursday. N Harish, a resident of Karnataka, was an ASP (assistant superintendent of police) rank officer with the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC). He was recently transferred from Madurai to Chennai. The reason for his death is not known. Reports say that the TN cadre officer was denied promotion as SP as he was facing a departmental enquiry.
