Is the 2019 Prayag ‘Kumbh’ (Allahabad) going to be the BJP launch pad for the 2019 LS polls? Well, the sceptics would like to believe this given the buzz in the power corridor which matches the agility with which the preparation for this 55-day event is being made. The Govts in Delhi and in Lucknow aren't leaving any stone unturned with UP CM Yogi Adityanath heavily investing himself into the event.

The belief gets enforced with 2019 Kumbh lending its colour to events around it. Example, the ‘Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas’ (PBD) every year kicks off on Jan 09 to celebrate the return of Mahatma Gandhi to India from South Africa on the day. But this time the date has been changed to Jan 21 to coincide with the ‘Kumbh’ that begins on the Jan 15 . The venue of the PBD is Varanasi, a place closer to Allahabad so that the PIOs can be taken to Prayag immediately after the event.

UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath is addressing letters to lakhs of village heads across the country for sending batches of devotees to Allahabad for the holy dip at the ‘Kumbh’. The Prime Minister himself is going to lead the devotees in taking the Holy Dip.

What has been learnt is that the entire govt. machinery in UP is geared-up for the event so that the preparations at Prayag in Allahabad are world-class. A sum of Rs 3000 cr has been allocated for the ‘Kumbh’ so that the event also serves as simultaneous platform to showcase India and its culture. For the first time at the event, Air & Water Ambulances will be in place for the ill & infirm while international balle dancers have been roped in to perform Ramayan. Swiss cottages at the Banks will be created for the pilgrims and yes – some selfie points to take good selfies will also be in place.

Those watching the developments say a heightened level of preparedness goes in-sink with the ruling dispensations priorities as the event immediately after the Kumbh is the 2019 elections!
