New Delhi (29.06.2023): The Tamil Nadu government on Thursday appointed senior IAS officer Shiv Das Meena (IAS: 1989: TN) as the Chief Secretary. He will succeed V Irani Anbu who is due for superannuation on June 30. Meena was until recently the Secretary of the Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MAWS) Department. Shankar Jiwal (IPS: 1990: TN) has been appointed as the new Director General of Police of Tamil Nadu. Jiwal’s tenure as commissioner of the Greater Chennai Police ends on June 30. 

When the DMK government assumed office in May 2021, Meena was repatriated to his parent cadre in the same month, on the request of the Tamil Nadu government. Meena was serving as Chairman of the Central Pollution Control Board in Delhi, when the request went from the State government. Since then, Meena has been serving as MAWS Secretary.

Sandeep Rai Rathore (IPS: 1992: TN) who was DGP/Director, Training, Tamil Nadu has been posted as the new commissioner of Greater Chennai Police.
