Binoy Kumar (IAS:1983:TL) and Ms Pushpa Subramanyam (IAS:1985:TG) assumed charge as Secretary, Ministry of Steel and Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) respectively.

Binoy Kumar & Ms Subramanyam were, on 18 May 2018, announced as successors to the outgoing Ms Steel secretary Aruna Sharma (IAS:1982:MP) and MoFPI Secretary J P Meena (IAS:1983:AM) scheduled to retire on August 31, 2018.

Prior to her appointment as OSD in MoFPI Ms Subramanyam served as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Textiles whereas Binoy Kumar served as Director General (Supplies & Disposals), where he developed the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) as a one-stop online public procurement platform, in line with the digital initiatives of the Government of India. He also held the additional charge of Logistics (Dept of Commerce) as Special Secretary till July 31, 2018.
