New Delhi (24.12.2021):  Around 316 IAS officers have not filed their annual immovable property returns (IPR) for 2020, inviting sharp reactions from the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Law, and Justice. It has asked the government to increase surveillance on erring officers.
As per rules All-India Services Conduct Rules state that vigilance clearance will be denied to any officer who fails to submit annual immovable property returns of the previous year by January 31 of the following year. The number of erring officers as of January 1, 2021, was 348, but 33 officers subsequently filed the returns, leaving 316 in the defaulting segment.
