New Delhi (24.03.2023): A Parliamentary Committee has asked the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation to recruit more field officers so as to collect accurate and more reliable data for National Sample Survey Office (NSSO). The Committee expressed its concern in its 56th report on demand for grant of the ministry over shortage of personnel. It found 266 posts vacant that was estimated as 33 per cent of the total sanctioned strength as on November 30, 2022. The Ministry has a very important role for the development plans of the country as schemes cannot be implemented without the proper data and its collection needs a proper human resource.
