This was his second one-year extension as earlier his tenure was extended for a period of one year beyond 31 07.2025 i.e. up to 31 .07.2026. He was initially entrusted with additional charge of the Secretary, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation on April 15, 2024, while serving as Secretary, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment.

However, weeks ahead of his superannuation, the New Delhi establishment appointed him as Secretary, Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation up to his superannuation on July 31, 2024 and thereafter on contract basis for a period of one year ending July 31 2025.
