New Delhi (13.07.2026): Arvind Kumar (IPS: 1993: BH), Special Director, Intelligence Bureau, is likely to be appointed as Deputy National Security Advisor (Dy NSA) replacing T V Ravichandran (Retd IPS: 1990: TN). Ravichandran was appointed Dy NSA in July 2024 for a two-year tenure specifically to oversee technology and cyberspace portfolios.Kumar is the preferred choice to step into Ravichandran's shoes. Interestingly his batchmate Mahesh Dixit (IPS: 1993: AP) is now IB Chief. Kumar directly oversaw the Bureau's technology and cyber operations wing, giving him precisely the domain expertise that the Deputy NSA role demands.
