New Delhi (13.07.2026): Power Finance Corporation (PFC) has announced the incorporation of Satara Power Transmission Limited (SPTL) as a wholly owned subsidiary of PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL). The move is aimed at taking forward a key transmission project that will support the growing pumped storage capacity in Maharashtra.
Satara Power Transmission Limited has been incorporated as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the "Network Expansion Scheme in Western Region to cater to pumped storage potential near Satara (up to 4,500 MW) – Part A." The project is expected to strengthen the transmission network required for evacuating power from upcoming pumped storage projects in and around Satara, Maharashtra.
PFC Consulting Limited has been appointed by the Ministry of Power as the Bid Process Coordinator (BPC) for selecting a transmission service provider through the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route.
As part of this responsibility, PFCCL is required to complete several preliminary activities before the project is awarded. These include:
  • Conducting surveys and preparing project reports.
  • Initiating land acquisition wherever required.
  • Starting the process of obtaining forest clearances, if applicable.
  • Preparing the project for competitive bidding.
