The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet today cleared the appointment of Rohit Kumar Singh (IAS:1989:RJ) to the post of Member (Finance) NHAI. Currently he serves as Joint Secretary (Highways) in Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. In his new stint he replaces Satish Chandra (IAS:1985:PB) who repatriated to his parent cadre (Punjab) in the first week of April on completion of central deputation tenure. For the capital-intensive sector of highways & infrastructure, the post of Member (Finance) is critical importance but it was lying vacant since April 2016. Singh, known for his competence in Finance & applied engineering, was also made part of the high-level team of senior bureaucrats who visited states for on-the-spot assessment of demonetization drive and provided their feedback to the Cabinet Secretary.
