Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), in collaboration with International Labour Organisation (ILO), conducted a first of its kind study on 'Women in Leadership and Management in Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs)". The finding and recommendations of the study were presented before top management and senior executives of PSEs at SCOPE Convention Centre, New Delhi.
On the occasion, Dr. U. D. Choubey, DG, SCOPE, said that women constitute about 10% of the total workforce in Public Sector, however, their participation at top level is very low. He further said that though Companies Act has made provision of one women director on the board, the act need to be complied in letter and spirit. He said that the final recommendations of the study would be presented to the Government through DPE and added that SCOPE would also organize a program on structure agenda for wider deliberation.
Ms. Dagma Walter, Director, ILO for South Asia & India Office, said that Gender Equality is also one of the Sustainable Development Goals and ILO is working toward promoting equality.
