Within a day of the Indianmanadarins arguing in its Quick Take that the pending vacancies in HCs and other courts were not a grand example of minimum government, maximum governance, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said all 250 pending cases of appointments will be "cleared at the earliest". Two days back, Indianmandarins had disclosed that the government and the judiciary were on the verge of sorting out their differences.
Prasad also made it clear that there was no adversarial relationship between the government and the judiciary. "We have respect for our judiciary and its independence is an article of faith for the government", he told a newspaper.
