New Delhi (21.08.2025): Ending a period of temporary leadership, as Indianmandarins reported on July 31, 2025, the Ministry of Home Affairs has appointed Satish Golcha (IPS: 1992: AGMUT) as the new Commissioner of Police for Delhi. The formal appointment comes after the top post was being held on an additional charge basis by senior IPS officer S. B. K. Singh (IPS: 1988: AGMUT).
The appointment provides the national capital's police force with a full-time chief, with Golcha's tenure potentially extending until his retirement in April 2027.
Golcha is known in bureaucratic circles for his diverse skill set and a strong command over headquarters operations. His elevation comes at a crucial time, as the force faces ongoing scrutiny over the law and order situation in the capital. While the tenure of the previous full-time commissioner, Sanjay Arora, was largely seen as free of major controversies, the new chief is expected to bring a focused approach to ground-level policing challenges.
The abrupt appointment of Satish Golcha as the new Delhi Police Commissioner is being viewed in official circles as a direct fallout of the alleged attack on Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. While the move was already in the pipeline, the security breach is understood to have fast-tracked the decision.
