New Delhi (05.05.2021): Steel Authority of India has stepped up its daily LMO delivery to 1,100 tons from 500 tons in the 2nd week of April 2021. All of its integrated steel plants situated at Bhilai (Chhattisgarh), Rourkela (Odisha), Bokaro (Jharkhand), Durgapur, and Burnpur (West Bengal) have been equally involved in raising the production and delivery of LMO. Their cooperative efforts have enabled SAIL to deliver about 50,000 MT of LMO so far. In April 2021 alone, SAIL delivered more than 17500 MT of LMO to 15 states across the country including the states in which the plants are located. Till May 04, SAIL despatched as many as 14 nos. of “Oxygen Express” carrying more than 950 MT of LMO for various parts of the county from its plants at Bokaro, Rourkela, and Durgapur. Its plants have also received tankers, which have been airlifted and after loading has moved to their destinations by road and rail. SAIL is also setting up additional 2,500 hospital beds, outside its current medical facilities, with the support of gaseous oxygen brought by dedicated gas pipelines from the plants. These beds will use gaseous oxygen directly as an additional source of oxygen as the demand for Liquid Medical Oxygen is currently high.
