New Delhi (06.05.2021): An MHA fact-finding team made up of its senior officials landed in Kolkata early this morning to discover reasons for the post-poll violence in the state. The team is headed by  Ministry's additional secretary Govind Mohan (IAS:1989:SK).

As SM was flooded with horrid details of murder and rape and robbery after the TMC victory in the state elections, the MHA sent a terse reminder to the West Bengal government on Wednesday to submit a detailed report on the post-poll violence and to take necessary measures to stop such incidents "without any loss of time".

Earlier The Ministry of Home Affairs had also asked the Chief Secretary of Bengal that why they have not sent the report which was sought on May 3.

The BJP has alleged that TMC-backed goons have killed a number of its workers, attacked its women members, vandalized houses, looted shops of its members, and ransacked its offices.

Similar charges against the TMC were leveled by Congress, CPI(M), and other parties which participated in the polls.

BJP President JP Nadda stated that at least 14 party workers were killed and nearly one lakh people fled their homes in post-poll violence.

Mamta Banerjee rejected the charges, saying violence and clashes were taking place in those areas where the BJP candidates emerged victorious in the election.
