Srinagar (27.10.2023): Rashmi Ranjan Swain (IPS: 1991: AGMUT) has been appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP). Swain has been given additional charge and will take over as the new DGP on November 1, 2023 from Dilbagh Singh (IPS: 1987: AGMUT) who is retiring as the longest-serving Police chief of J&K on October 31, 2023.Swain has many feathers in his cap besides having the distinction of serving as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of both the capital cities of Srinagar and Jammu. He was on the central deputation for over 15 years and served in many capacities, besides a foreign posting – that is given to outstanding officers for their ability.
