Nothing succeeds like success. Until recently, Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat, battling a purported sting and desertion of nine MLAs, was abandoned by the Congress (I) high command. He actually cut a lonely figure as he prepared for Dehradun battle to prove his mettle. After winning the floor test, he now has a crowd behind him, even while he faces CBI summons. Rawat is scheduled to appear before the CBI on Tuesday in connection with the purported sting and the entire Uttarakhand Congress is said to have descended on the capital. Hundreds of followers have planned to accompany him to the CBI office in a show of solidarity. Even the High Command has started wooing him back, after once asking him to quit and make way for his bete noir as state CM to stave off the revolt in the party.
