N Muruganandam (IAS:1991:TN), the outgoing Managing Director of Indian Port Association, is completing his seven years tenure under central deputation today. Interestingly, he is visiting Kandla Port Trust and from there itself he will be relieved from Govt of India to join his cadre state Tamil Nadu.
Indianmandarians has reliably learnt that former Chairman of Kandla Port Trust A Janardhana Rao will replace Muruganandam as Managing Director, India Port Trust on October 10, 2016. This will be Rao's second tenure as MD, IPA.
Rao has been a hardcore portman known for his competence, conviction, and commitment to the development of ports. Many insiders believe that it was Rao who fought against the lobby who did not want Kandla to regain its supremacy in the region.
Currently, Rao serves as Adviser, Sagarmala, in the Ministry of Shipping.
