Indianmandarins has learnt that T K Rajendran (IPS:1984:TN) may shortly be named as new DGP of Tamil Nadu. Currently, he holds the additional charge of DGP.
Reportedly, a panel made up of five senior IPS officers has reached the UPSC and the Centre is set to clear the file today. Those in the know of the affairs say that altogether five names are on the panel: Ms Archana Ramasundaram (IPS:1980:TN); K Radhakrishnan (IPS:1983:TN); K P Maghendran (IPS:1984:TN), S George (IPS:1984:TN) and T K Rajendran (IPS:1984:TN).
The officer named as DGP would head the TN Police for a fixed tenure of two years. It may be noted that Ms. Ramasundaram is currently serving at the Centre as DG, SSB, who is rescheduled to retire in September this year. Rest of the four officers are in Tamil Nadu.
Maghendran has more than one year in service while Radhakrishnan is due for retirement on July 31.
