New Delhi (21.09.2023): During discussion on Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam (Women Reservation Bill), Rahul Gandhi took up the matter of OBC reservation within the bill by doubting Centre’s claim for giving representation to people from all segments by underlining that there are only three OBC secretaries out of 90 who don’t even control 5 per cent of India's budget. However, the number was nine in April 2023. The matter will be certainly be an election issue.
Rahul utilised the opportunity to question that government that how many OBCs, Dalits and adivasis are there in the country and it could only be determined using the Caste Census. But whenever the issue of caste census is raised the BJP tries to create distraction. Pushing for an OBC quota in the women's reservation bill, Rahul Gandhi said the move was "incomplete" as it lacks a quota for the community.
