Punjab: Anirudh Tiwari is the new Chief Secretary, new DGP is expected soon

1201Chandigarh (23.09.2021): The newly appointed Government headed by Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has picked Anirudh Tiwari (IAS:1990:PB) as the new Chief Secretary of the state. Currently, Tiwari is working as Additional Chief Secretary, Development. Tiwari replaces Vini Mahajan who has served as CS since June 2020. Ms Mahajan was re-designated as Special Chief Secretary. Tiwari superseded four officers; Ravneet Kaur, Sanjay Kumar, VK Janjua, and Kripa Shankar Saroj, and resultantly the government re-designated them as Special Chief Secretary to the Government of Punjab. Further, former Mohali Deputy Commissioner Varun Roojam will hold the charge as Special Principal Secretary to Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa. Reportedly, the name of the new Punjab DGP is also expected to be announced anytime. So far as three names are in the reckoning; VK Bhawra, Sidharth Chattopadhyay and IPS Sahota. Currently, Dinkar Gupta is DGP.
