New Delhi (28.07.2024): Leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has been offered Bungalow number 5, Sunehri Bagh as his official residence besides a couple of more. He had vacated his 12 Tughlaq Road residence due to his disqualification from the Lok Sabha last year but was reallotted after reinstatement of membership by the Supreme Court’s intervention. Sources said Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi visited this bungalow to ascertain its present condition. Rahul Gandhi is yet to accept this offer. As LoP, Gandhi is entitled to a type-VIII Bungalow, which is highest category of central government accommodation.
A senior officer in the Directorate of Estates under the ministry of Urban Development said that Rahul Gandhi was offered this type VIII Bungalow and a formal notification in this regard will be issued only after he accepts this offer. Sources said he was offered to retain the 12 Tughlaq Road residence but he preferred to change this address due to Vastu reason.
