PRAGATI: PM calls for speedy implementation of health & infra projects

He said this while chairing his twenty-seventh interaction meeting with officials through PRAGATI, a multi-model platform for pro-active governance and timely implementation of projects. Reviewing the progress in the implementation of projects related to establishment of new medical colleges, he said his government is taking many initiatives in the health sector. At the interaction meeting, the Prime Minister also reviewed the progress of eight infrastructure projects in the railway, road and power sectors. These projects are spread over several states including Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Odisha, Chandigarh, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. Prime Minister Modi appreciated the progress made so far under 'Saubhagya Yojana, a scheme which envisages providing electricity to every household in the country. He said all efforts must be made to complete the ambitious target of providing 4 crore families an electricity connection within the stipulated timeline. The Prime Minister was also full of praise for the success achieved under 'Gram Swaraj Abhiyan,' a high-intensity outreach programme to deliver welfare schemes to select villages needing special attention. The Union government sponsored seven key schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna and Ujala were implemented in over 16,000 villages in the first phase of 'Gram Swaraj Abhiyan' which ran from April 14 to May 5, 2018. The second phase of the Abhiyan is currently underway in over 40,000 villages. The Prime Minister called upon all officers- both from the state and the union governments- to work towards achieving the best possible outcomes for the initiative by August 15, 2018. Earlier, the 26 PRAGATI meetings oversaw a cumulative review of projects, involving over Rs. 11 lakh crore worth of investments.
