There are two posts of Member (Tech) in NHAI and both posts are vacant. For one post of Member (Tech), the Appointment Committee of Cabinet cleared the appointment of A K Singh on October 08, 2015. Under the rules of procedure, the MoRTH should have issued the appointment order of Singh after it was ratified by the ACC. Incredible as it may sound; it has not been done so far.
Power corridors are abuzz that Singla factor might be the reason behind this extraordinary delay in implementation of ACC decision. Reportedly, B S Singla (CGM, NHAI) was also on the panel but A K Singh was picked for Member (Tech).
