Assam Chif Minister Sarbanand Sonowal is said to be no longer keen to appoint a new Chief Secretary in place of V K Pipersenia. Appointed by the Tarun Gogoi government, Pipersenia will retire in August 2017. As reported first by Indianmandarins, after he came to power, Sonowal wanted to replace Pipersenia and discussed with the Centre three probable names - 1979-batch officer Vinay Sheel Oberoi, Higher Education Secretary in the HRD; 1981-batch officer Rajiv Yadav, Sports Secretary; and 1982-batch officer Jay Priye Prakash, Pharmaceutical Secretary.
