pesb-functioning-hamstrung-as-critical-posts-remain-vacantThe PESB has been functioning without a regular Chairman since the third week of July 2017 following the appointment of Sanjay Kothari (Retd IAS:1978:HY), the then PESB Chairman, as Secretary to the President of India. Though senior-most member Anshuman Das is officiating as the Chairman of PESB, the absence of any formal announcement on his tenure as functional Chairman (which ended on December 31, 2017) has created an atmosphere of uncertainty. Nevertheless, the Centre is yet to initiate the process to appoint a regular incumbent. To make matters worse, the post of Secretary, PESB, that, too, fell vacant following the retirement of Rajiv Rai on January 31, remains unoccupied. All of this is said to have created a lot of avoidable apprehensions in the minds of public sector officials. With Anshuman Das and Ms. Gauri Kumar, the two senior-most members of PESB, expected to complete their tenures in May and June this year, the PESB would have liked the government taking a timely decision on filling the critical posts of the organization.
