The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament has decided to study and prepare a report on the Public Private Partnerships in the country. It may also discuss the implementation of the Food Security Act.
The first meeting of the recently reshuffled committee has decided to compile various reports of the Comptroller and the Auditor General (CAG) on the PPPs and prepare a report. Current chairman K V Thomas and his predecessor Murli Manohar Joshi and CAG Shashi Kant Sharma and former CAG Vinod Rai had been demanding a larger role for the CAG and the PAC in auditing the PPPs.
"We have decided to do a detailed study of these issues. We will try to submit a report as early as possible on the PPPs in India. Implementation of Food Security Act is also an issue. Recently the CAG had submitted a report on this," Thomas, also a former Food Minister, said.
