Vijayawada (29.01.2026):Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K Vijayanand (IAS: 1992: WB), who is retiring on January 31, 2026, is likely to be reappointed as ex-officio Special Chief Secretary to the government. G Sai Prasad (IAS: 1991: AP) revenue and water resources special chief secretary, will take over as the next chief secretary after Vijayanand's retirement on Saturday.
Sources said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has decided to continue with the services of Vijayanand in ex-officio cadre for one more year. He is also expected to continue as the head of energy department as special chief secretary. The state govt did not replace him from the crucial energy wing even after making him chief secretary last year. It is rare to see regular chief secretaries hold additional key portfolios like energy. Keeping in view his vast experience in execution of energy projects and key role in attracting big-ticket green energy projects, the chief minister reportedly decided to continue with him for another year in the same capacity.
