New Delhi (30.03.2026): When the world is grappling energy crisis, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has achieved a major offshore milestone by commencing gas monetisation from the Daman Upside Development Project (DUDP), strengthening India’s domestic natural gas production.
Major Offshore Gas Project Commissioned
The DUDP project, located in the western offshore region about 180 km northwest of Mumbai and 80 km south of Pipavav, has achieved monetisation through the commissioning of Platform B-12-24P.
Gas from the platform has now been successfully routed to the Hazira Plant for processing.
$1 Billion Capex Executed in Record Time
Key highlights of the project:
- Project: Daman Upside Development Project (DUDP)
- Investment: Approximately $1 billion
- Location: Western offshore basin
- Milestone achieved: Gas monetisation begins
- Execution timeline: Completed in under two years
ONGC attributed the accelerated completion to innovative use of drill-deck technology and strong performance by drilling and production teams.
Production to Ramp Up in Phases
The company confirmed that gas production from additional wells will be ramped up gradually in phases, further boosting output from the western offshore basin.
The project is expected to enhance domestic gas availability and support India’s energy security by reducing dependence on imports.
