Indianmandarins has learned that the ad for the appointment of a new legal affairs secretary has invited no response from within the government. That is because the ad makes it mandatory for the applicant of an officer of the Indian Legal Service to have worked as an additional secretary for at least three years to qualify for job consideration. Since no one inside the administration is said to have the requisite qualification, it is said that one among the district judges who have applied for the job may be picked up. The ad says that a district judge with three years of experience is qualified to apply for the job. On the other hand, the experience bar for a lawyer practising in high courts or Supreme Court has been kept at 25 years.
