The Lt Governor is preoccupied with maintaining political equilibrium with Delhi government. This has impacted the policing system in the city. At least four districts are awaiting DCP level postings. These districts include Dwarka, North, South West and Delhi Outer district. The filling up of these four positions would be possible once the political scenario normalizes in the city.
Similarly, senior IPS officers have reported back to Delhi police headquarters. Now they are waiting for posting. Former DGP of Chandigarh Tejendra Luthra (IPS 1991 UT) and former BSF IG Alok Kumar (IPS 1996 UT) have completed their tenure. These two officers are also waiting for their new assignment. As the issue of contention between LG and Delhi chief minister has been discussed and the LG has conveyed his viewpoints firmly to CM, the former may get time to address key issues of Delhi police early next week.
