The seven-member commission is working with a strength of five; even these five members and the chairman will complete their tenure by March 31, 2017. Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that NaMo actually is looking at revamping the NCM. The post of a Sikh Member fell vacant in Sept last year after Dr. Ajayab Singh completed his tenure on 04 Sept 2015. Reportedly, Navjot Singh Sidhu was meant to replace Dr. Singh but Sidhu denied the offer. Buddhist Member T N Shanu completed his tenure on March 31 this year but the post is yet to be filled. The Christian Member, Ms. Mebel Rebelo, will complete her tenure on November 30 this year whereas the Muslim Member, Ms. Farida Abdullah Khan, will demit office on October 22 this year. With the completion of tenures of the Chairman and the Parsi Member on March 31 next year, the decks will be completely empty and the govt may employ any person of its choice.
