The government of India has been firefighting to deal with the misinformation campaign by the foreign media on Delhi riots but a section in the government has raised eyebrows over the role of journalist Ashok Malik who has been appointed in the ministry of external affairs to the rank of additional secretary through the lateral entry.

Sources said that people in the government are of the view that he should have utilised his media expertise to counter the misinformation propaganda of foreign media. The MEA generally handles its media issues independently. But for the present propaganda, all the concerned departments including PMO, HM, MEA and I&B were involved and I&B minister Prakash Javadekar himself was monitoring everything.

But Malik failing to offers his expertise on the issue has miffed many but most of them remained tight-lipped over the issue with some passing references like even if he was busy with some other assignment, still he should have taken pro-active stand on the issue to deal with the matter.
