Manoj Sinha replaces Murmu as LG of J&K

By IndianMandarins- 06 Aug 2020

Former Union Minister of State for Telecom and Railways in NaMo 0.1 and Uttar Pradesh BJP leader Manoj Sinha has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir; a position which fell vacant after President Ram Nath Kovind accepted the resignation of Girish Chandra Murmu as the LG of J&K.

It may be recalled that Sinha was aspiring to become Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and was reportedly the first choice of the Centre for CM post but Yogi emerged as the first choice of RSS.

Sinha has represented the parliamentary constituency of Ghazipur thrice in the Lok Sabha. He was defeated by Bahujan Samaj Party’s (BSP) Afzal Ansari in last year’s Lok Sabha polls. Sinha has also served as junior railways minister.

Reportedly, Sinha will assume charge as LG on the first anniversary of abrogation of Article 370 in J&K.
