Within a couple of weeks of appointment of Dr Suresh Babu (IAS:1986:MN) as Chief Secretary, Govt of Manipur the natives of the state launched agitation demanding a state native to be made new chief secretary.
The rally demanded that the Manipur government take a concrete decision on the issue within the month of April 2018.
Thousands of Manipuri students and various student unions rallied in the streets of Imphal on Tuesday demanding the appointment of a "native IAS officer as Chief Secretary of Manipur."
The rally christened as "Peaceful rally demanding the appointment of native IAS officer as Chief Secretary of Manipur".
Dr Suresh Babu was made CS of the State w.e.f 01 April 2018 and has approx 29 months to retire but agitation demanding a native officer as his replacement has further put the Govt under pressure.
