The Madras High Court has ordered
the arrest of Tamil Nadu Higher Education Secretary Mangat Ram Sharma for his
failure to appear before it in a contempt case. Â Sharma was directed to appear in
person on Monday in a case pertaining to the Coimbatore based Bharatiyar
University's distance education courses outside its jurisdictional areas. Â However, the IAS officer failed
to comply with the court direction. Justice N Kriubakaran directed the court
registry to issue a bailable warrant against him.
