Modi government, on Thursday, constituted an eight-member Search Committee to recommend names the post of Chairperson and members of Lokpal, the anti-corruption ombudsman.

Former Supreme Court Judge Ranjana P Desai was named as Chairperson of the Search Committee with seven others as members namely; Arundhati Bhattacharya (former SBI chief), A Surya Prakash (Chairperson-Prasar Bharati), Dr A S Kiran Kumar (ISRO head), Justice Sakha Ram Singh Yadav (Retd Judge of Allahabad HC), Ranjit Kumar (former Solicitor General), Dr Lalit K Panwar (Retd IAS:1979:RJ), Shabbirhussain S Khandwawala (Retd IPS:1973:GJ).
