New Delhi (02.08.2021): The launching of the National Mission on Quantum Technologies and Application (NM-QTA), slated for this month, is said to have been delayed by the government's unwillingness to sanction ₹8,000 crores on account of the rising and accumulated expenditure on Covid containment measures.

The Mission was announced in the Union Budget in February 2020.

The Mission is targeted at enhancing the country's capability in quantum communication, quantum simulation, quantum computation, and quantum sensing and meteorology to bridge the gap in these future technologies.

Readers may be aware that Bharat has one of the best minds in the world to take it forward in the highly exciting quantum world of tomorrow.

Dr. KR Murali Mohan, Scientist-G & Head, Frontier & Futuristic Technologies Division, Department of Science and Technology (DST) told a newspaper that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Defence Research and Development Organisation, CSIR, and Indian Space Research Organisation among others have already processed their approvals for the projects to be taken up by the NM-QTA.
