Himachal Pradesh DGP Sanjay Kumar (IPS:1985:HP) has been named as Director General, National Disaster Response Force. The post fell vacant after R K Pachnanda (IPS:1983:WB) took over as DG, ITBP on 01 July 2017. The DG post in NDRF is an ADG rank post but it was temporarily upgraded to the DG rank to accommodate O P Singh (IPS:1983:UP) and R K Pachnanda. Prior to his appointment as DGP, Himachal Pradesh, Kumar served as IG, RPF (Patna). He had been keenly waiting for his posting in Govt of India since he got empanelled as ADG (GoI) in 2015.
