ktaka-cs-gets-extension-ahead-of-assembly-electionsThe Centre on last working-day of the month approved service extension of Ms K Ratna Prabha (IAS:1981:KN) as Karnataka Chief Secretary for three months. In view of the assembly elections, K'taka Govt had earlier written to the Centre seeking extension of Ratna Prabha's tenure. The single-phase election for the 224-member Karnataka Legislative Assembly would be held on May 12. The extension of service is with effect from April one to June 30, under the third Proviso to Rule 16 (1) of All India Service (Death Cum Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958, the DOPT (GoI) in a letter to state government said. Ratna Prabha was appointed Karnataka Chief Secretary on November 28, 2017. She was scheduled to retire on March 31, 2018. She is the third woman Chief Secretary of the state after Teresa Bhattacharya and Malathi Das.
