Kolkata (17.09.2024): After the six-hour long deliberations
with protesting doctors, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced
removing Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal (IPS: 1994: WB) and DCP of
Kolkata (North). She said Goyal will hand over charge to new Police
Commissioner at 4pm on Tuesday. The Director of Medical Education Kaustav Naik and Director
of Health Services Debashis Halder have also been removed from their post. The CM
said that all four demands of the doctors have been accepted. She said a
committee led by the Chief Secretary has been formed to address all matters
related to health sector infrastructure.
