New Delhi (25.07.2022): In a shocking incident, the CBI unearthed a racket involving five residents of Latur (Maharashtra) for allegedly swindling unsuspecting people by assuring them to help enter the Rajya Sabha and also the Raj Bhavan for a huge amount of money.
An instant case was registered on July 15 against the five accused, (all residents of Latur in Maharashtra), in New Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Belgaum in Mumbai.
It was alleged that the prime accused, a resident of Latur, falsely impersonated himself as a senior CBI officer while claiming to be posted at CBI HQ in New Delhi. The said accused entered into a conspiracy with other accused, allegedly, to cheat private persons by assuring them to arrange seats in the Rajya Sabha and also get appointments as Governor and Chairmen in various government-run organizations under the Central Government ministries and departments against huge monetary gains.
The accused have been identified as the kingpin Kamalakar Premkumar Bandgar, Abhishek Boora, Mohammed Aijaz Khan, Ravindra Vithal Naik and Mahendra Pal Arora.
Searches were conducted at seven locations including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka which led to the recovery of incriminating material including WhatsApp conversations and other shreds of evidence.
The arrested accused were produced before the competent Court in Delhi on July 22 and 23 which later granted them bail.
