The first woman Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Justice Ms G Rohini is learnt to have been in contention for elevation as Supreme Court Judge. Currently three posts of judges have been lying vacant with SCI and out of 27 judges Justice Ms R Bhanumathi is the only female judge serving with the Supreme Court of India. With the appointment of Justice Ms Rohini SC will have two female judges. Justice Ms Rohini had been moved from Andhra Pradesh High Court in March 2014 after elevation as Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. As Delhi HC Chief Justice she had replaced Justice N V Ramanna after he was appointment as Supreme Court Judge in February 2014.
