New Delhi (08.10.2024): The BJP failed to deliver a Hindu Chief Minister to Jammu and Kashmir yet again as Assembly elections results gave a clear mandate to National Conference and Congress alliance in the Union Territory. However, the saffron outfit managed to increase its tally but failed to achieve what it tried and expected. What is the meaning of these results for the NC-Congress alliance, the BJP, other outfits and the region.

How it worked for the alliance?

• Rahul Gandhi’s decision to forge alliance with National Conference worked
• The Congress stopped the BJP’s juggernaut not only in Jammu region only but in the neighbourhood as well
• National Conference is benefitted by the popularity of the Congress like SP was benefited in Uttar Pradesh
• The alliance has put a check on not only PDP but also on parties led by Rashid Engineer and Sajjad Lone
• Keeping silence on vexed issues in J&K was the best strategy of Rahul in UT
• Rahul projected himself as a Kashmiri by calling others outsiders eking out benefits
• Minority voters tilted elections in favour of the NC-Congress alliance where BJP has no share

Did BJP stand any chance in J&K?

• There was a very tenuous chance for the BJP to succeed in UT
• It certainly succeeded to increase its presence in Jammu region with 4-5 more seats
• The BJP was trying to win over people with development plank against sentimental issues
• It’s a win-win situation for BJP as it will be at the helm with its representative as LG
• Conducting peaceful election and J&K will be tom-tommed in other elections and globally
• Everyone in J&K gained in this elections except separatists(
