Dr. Rajiv Lall, CEO IDFC, considered to be a blue-eyed boy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is said to be in the shortlist for RBI Governor. Once a close acolyte of Laloo Prasad Yadav and Prem Gupta and who helped with Laloo-style Railways reforms in the hope of a Rajya Sabha ticket, Lall is now a regular Modi camp follower. Under the leadership and guidance of Deepak Parekh, he has turned around a sick company like IDFC in under ten years and is now launching a new bank. He is the son of a distinguished ICS officer KB Lall, a Padma Vibhushan and a Ph.D. From Columbia University and former international staff member of World Bank for many years.
