New Delhi (12.12.2025):  NHPC Limited and its joint venture/subsidiary companies are currently constructing eight major hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 8,514 MW. NHPC, India’s largest hydropower producer, has already commissioned 23 projects till October 2025 with a total installed capacity of 7,771 MW. These projects generated 23,015 million units (MUs) of electricity in the first seven months of 2025–26.
Projects Under Construction
The under-construction projects include:
Subansiri Lower (2,000 MW) – Arunachal Pradesh, scheduled for commissioning in December 2026
Dibang Multipurpose Project (2,880 MW) – Arunachal Pradesh, targeted for February 2032
Teesta-VI (500 MW) – Sikkim, expected by September 2029
 
In addition, JV projects account for 3,134 MW, including:
Pakal Dul (1,000 MW) and Kiru (624 MW) – Jammu & Kashmir, expected by December 2026
Ratle (850 MW) – Jammu & Kashmir, projected for November 2028
Kwar (540 MW) – Jammu & Kashmir, planned for March 2028
Rangit-IV (120 MW) – Sikkim, slated for April 2026
Collectively, these projects represent an investment of nearly ₹98,107 crore and are expected to generate 32,167 MUs annually once operational.
Local Employment & Grievance Redressal
The Ministry highlighted that NHPC’s ongoing projects are providing employment opportunities to local communities, including Project Affected Families (PAFs), thereby boosting local income and entrepreneurship. Grievances related to project activities can be submitted through the CPGRAMS portal for timely redressal.
