New Delhi (09.01.2023): The sixteen-member governing council of the India Habitat Centre on January 6, 2022, decided to constitute a Search Committee to find out the successor of former President Gopalaswami Parthasarathy (IFS) who completed his second extended term on August 31, 2022.
It may be underlined that after the end of his term, GP did not function as President thus leaving the coveted position headless to be run on an ad-hoc basis.
If some well-placed sources are to be believed, the governing council meeting witnessed an exhaustive argumentative discussion on the day on whether GP’s term could be extended for the third time by regularising the gap beginning September 01, 2022. As per the rule, his term couldn’t be extended Ex post facto, so the process for finding out a new Chairman has started.
