Bhubaneshwar (26.11.2024): In an abruptly served order the Government of Odisha has rejected IAS officer Sujata Karthikeyan's application seeking extension of leave for another six months beyond 26.11.2024. She is Special Secretary, Finance Department (Govt of Odisha).
She has been on Child Care Leave (CCL) w.e.f. 31.05.2024 and had applied for extension of leave beyond 26.11.2024.
The govt in its order dated 26.11.2024 said that “after careful consideration your leave application for extension of CCL for a further period of six months w.e.f. 27.11.2024 is not acceded to. You are therefore requested to join on 27.11.2024 i.e. after availing of the CCL from 31.05.2024 to 26.11.2024.
The development assumes significance as Sujata Karthikeyan is the wife of V K Pandian (Retd IAS: 2000: OR) who was once termed as shadow CM and undisputed boss of state bureaucracy. V K Pandian, former Secretary to Osdisha CM Naveen Patnaik took VRS last year and joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) ahead of Odisha Assembly Polls.
